Five people suffered minor injuries when they got stuck inside a water ride at the Mountain Creek Water Park in Vernon, N.J.
The accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday on the park’s Gauley ride, park officials said.
The injured riders were on tubes that ran into one another and became stuck at the mouth of a dark tunnel on the ride, said Bill Benneyan, the park’s president.
When the tubes got stuck, the water began to rise inside the tunnel, Benneyan said. Lifeguards shut off the water and then got the four adults and a teenager off the ride.
The riders suffered bumps, bruises and abrasions and were either treated at the scene or sought medical attention, Benneyan said.
The park shut down the ride until state investigators from Consumers Affairs can inspect it.
