A Bayville toddler has died after a fence he was playing near, fell onto him and lacerated his head.

It happened Monday at 4:55 p.m. in Ransom Beach.  Nassau County police say the chain link fence was unattached before it fell.

The boy was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center.

The unidentified boy died Tuesday at about 4 a.m.

Police say the investigation is continuing.
