Call for more security following Hudson River Park rape
MYFOXNY.COM -
City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and other officials held a press conference in Hudson River Park following Saturday’s brutal sexual assault.
A homeless man and sex-offender is accused of raping a woman Saturday morning and members of the city council want to make sure the police and parks department don’t get hit with mid-year budget cuts.
“We simply cannot have a city where women and young girls worry that if they walk down the street or in a park – they could be the victim of a sexual attack or a victim of violence,” said Speaker Quinn.
Quinn gave her support to the victim and plans to be back in the park Monday morning at 7:00 a.m. for a solidarity walk. She also said there will be a self-defense training class in the park in a few weeks.
